We have acquired this rare FIRE BUCKET from a Poland, Maine home. This bucket was a piece of fire extinguishing equipment used during the 1800s and was intended to hold water. There was one, or several, in every room of each home as a precautionary measure since fireplaces were the main source of heat. Each bucket had the family coat of arms stamped on the front, as does this one. This is a vintage piece of fire prevention equipment that has survived throughout the years.
