HISTORY

The Barn on 26 Antiques was established April 1, 1977, the day that I arrived, bag and baggage, at my Route 26 property. The 1820 cape, home to ROWENDA TEA ROOM at the turn of the 20th century, was the most inviting little ramshackle home that I had ever seen!

The attached garage became the original BARN ON 26, until the 1870 Shaker built barn could be restored - and restored it has been! The business has evolved from that small "garage sale" operation in 1977, to a well-rounded and well-respected antique shop. Pieces from the BARN ON 26 have ended up all across the U. S., including Alaska and Hawaii. Although the Internet has played a significant part in spreading the word (www.barnon26.com), this shop had furniture in numerous faraway places prior to the computer age.

I have built this business on customer service and the satisfaction of one customer at a time. This approach has worked well for the BARN ON 26, with antique lovers returning year after year seeking just the right pieces for their homes, offices, condominiums, camps, etc.

The BARN ON 26, over time, has become somewhat of a landmark in this area, with its large red doors and neat brown triple rail fencing along Route 26. This property is also home to ROWENDA FARM, established in 1979, where fine Morgan horses are bred and raised, and an active riding lesson program is in place.

It is my pleasure to invite you to come by for a visit. If that is not possible, please browse our walk through shop here on line. Remember that shipping is always available, so contact me for a quote on any item that strikes your fancy.
